My Mission
#DevourFoodInsecurity
Food insecurity is a cause that truly resonates with me—it's not just a passion, but a deeply personal mission. For over 20 years I have been involved with programs that provide food support to communities. Why? Because when I was a single parent, the local food bank saved my family.
In Oregon, 1 out of every 10 people face food insecurity. It's crucial to stress the importance of everyone having three nutritious meals daily. For children, these meals enhance focus and learning abilities. Similarly, for seniors, it ensures they don't have to make tough choices between food and medicine.
There are 36 counties in Oregon with over 1400 food distribution programs serving the state. Oregon Food Bank, the largest Food Bank in Oregon, distributed almost 42 million meals in 2023 and they expect that number to grow in 2024.
For 15 years, our family has sponsored two orphaned children; Rute in Malawi and Nashimwi in Burundi. We believe that this small act of financial support is making their life and community brighter!
Now, my commitment has grown even stronger, and I'm eager to broaden the impact by shining a spotlight on these crucial programs, reaching every corner of the state of Oregon.
